Why should a customer visit Dunsmuir House?
Dunsmuir Hellman Mansion & Estate provides historical, educational and cultural experiences.  Visitors, school groups, senior citizen and other bus groups can tour the majestic mansion with costumed led docents while they take a step back in time to the Edwardian era.  On select days, we host jazz/dancing under the stars, movie nights and living history/old-fashioned games for families.  Other special events include our popular Spring Egg Hunt, Oktoberfest, the Scottish Highland Festival and our traditional December Holiday Show.
How do you differentiate yourself from your competition?
Dunsmuir has no real competition.  We are unique.  You will find a beautiful park and majestic mansion, but you won't find the combination anywhere else in the Bay Area.  Our exquisite location nestled in the East Bay Hills is in the city of Oakland, yet is an oasis away from the city sounds and the hustle and bustle of daily life.  A white gazebo, duck pond, historic carriage house, and a contemporary garden pavilion enhance the 50 acre setting.  We are in proximity to the freeway, airport, downtown and accessible by public transportation.
How long have you been in business?
In 1971, Dunsmuir House and Gardens, Inc. was established as a private non-profit corporation dedicated to the preservation, restoration and development of Dunsmuir Hellman Estate as a historic attraction.  We signed a contract with the City of Oakland to operate the historic estate.  In 2008 the name of the organization was changed to Dunsmuir Hellman Historic Estate to include the legacy of the Hellman family.
